The Android app of Yu (Serendip) has no accounts, no ads, and no third-party analytics or tracking. Below is everything about you. The website has its own policy.
The app sends nothing to our server. The poems, the choosing, your encounters and the calendar all live on your device; we hold no record of you there — not even an anonymous identifier.
Approximate location. The app asks once for the "approximate location" permission so it can tell which city you are in (you may decline, and pick a city by hand in settings instead). Location is used on the device only, to match the nearest city in a built-in table; raw coordinates never leave the device and are not stored.
Weather. Fetched directly from the Norwegian Meteorological Institute (met.no), sending that city's coordinates from the table — not your position. Your IP is visible to them for that request, under their privacy policy. Apart from purchases, which go through Google Play, this is the app's only network request.
Encounters. Stored only on your device, together with the city you were in. Uninstalling removes them; if Android system backup is on, they travel with it to your next device. When you export a scroll you choose whether it carries the city; what is on the paper, and who you send it to, is up to you.
Purchases. Handled by Google Play. Purchases talk to Google through the Google Play services on your device, under Google's privacy policy; we receive and keep no buyer identity or payment details, and our server holds no record of who has bought.
What we don't do
We do not sell, share, profile, or track you across sites or apps, and we show no advertising.
Deletion
Uninstalling removes everything — there was nothing on our side to begin with.
